We have already mentioned that some time ago we won an electronic auction for linguistic support of one of the Russia’s largest universities. Our new task within this project is the translation of some research articles from Spanish into Russian and from Russian into English. What’s more challenging: translate sophisticated technical manuals or academic research papers? A puzzling question, because both types of texts have their own peculiar features.
Everyone who has ever dealt with research literature or conference reports is familiar with their distinctive style: expanded sentences, flowery language, multiple theses and far-reaching conclusions. Translated texts have to reflect specific features of the style too, so our Spanish-Russian and Russian-English translators were really hard at work, preparing articles for the foreign audience. Their subjects refer to EU development aspects, humanitarian law, rights of minorities, migrant influx to the European countries and other topical issues lively discussed worldwide.
Since June, when the contract was signed, we have already provided our client with linguistic support of all kinds: consecutive and simultaneous interpretation at a conference in Saint Petersburg, whisper interpretation at an international meeting, as well as written translation and proofreading.
By the way, this week we’re taking part in another auction for interpretation in the neighboring Novosibirsk. Wish us good luck :)
Working with such professionals as Lingvista's team is a valuable experience and a sheer pleasure.
